SECURITY personnel at local terminals neutralized two separate fugitive threats in late August following targeted law enforcement operations led by the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) alongside partner police units and immigration authorities.
In Tacloban City, joint forces from AVSEGROUP and the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) arrested the city’s “Top 2 Most Wanted Person” at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport on August 25, 2026.
The 46-year-old male suspect, wanted for qualified rape with no bail recommended, was intercepted after intelligence indicated he was heading to the terminal to pick up a relative.
Upon positive identity verification, TCPO officers took him into custody at TCPO Station 1 for court presentation.
Days earlier at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, AVSEGROUP officers—collaborating with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)—intercepted an incoming foreign national from Taipei on August 22, 2026.
BI officers flagged the passenger following notification from the QCPD regarding an active alias warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Malolos City, Bulacan.
The warrant stems from alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004). The foreign national was transferred to the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit for legal proceedings.
Police Brigadier General Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Director of PNP AVSEGROUP, praised the seamless inter-agency coordination that led to both apprehensions, reiterating the unit’s commitment to ensuring national airports remain secure and unavailable as hideouts or transit points for fugitives.
