LAW enforcement officers arrested nine suspects and confiscated over 60 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱415,480 during a rapid series of midnight buy-bust operations across Manila and Marikina City, police reported Saturday.
The synchronized anti-drug crackdown, executed by units under the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), took place within a 20-minute window late Friday night.
The operations initiated at approximately 11:30 PM in Barangay 421, Zone 42, Sampaloc, Manila.
Operatives from the Sampaloc Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit intercepted a live-in couple during routine area monitoring.
Search procedures yielded two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 16 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱108,800.
Barely ten minutes later, at 11:40 PM, officers from Manila Police District Station 13 conducted a targeted buy-bust at the Baseco Compound in Port Area.
Authorities apprehended a female vendor and a tricycle driver—both classified as high-value targets—after seizing four sachets containing 15 grams of shabu worth ₱102,000, along with pre-marked buy-bust bills.
The largest seizure occurred at 11:50 PM in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.
A combined team from Marikina Police Sub-Station 4 and the Eastern Police District’s District Drug Enforcement Unit raided a residential property, detaining five suspects in a single sweep.
Officers recovered eight sachets holding 30.1 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱204,680 and the buy-bust currency.
All nine suspects remain in police custody pending formal inquest proceedings for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) before the respective city prosecutors’ offices.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano stated that police units will maintain aggressive, intelligence-driven anti-narcotics operations throughout the national capital region.
“These operations are part of NCRPO’s sustained anti-illegal drugs campaign across Metro Manila,” PBGEN Abrahano said. “Tonight’s results affirm how effective and serious every unit remains in this fight.”
