METRO Manila recorded a dramatic 51.47% reduction in focus crimes during the first two weeks of Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano’s tenure as Officer-in-Charge of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Data from the Crime Incident Reporting and Analysis System covering August 23 to September 8 reveals that focus crime incidents across the region fell from 373 during the same period in 2025 down to 181 this year.
The decline was driven by significant drops across several major crime categories:
- Motor Vehicle Theft: Dropped 85.71%
- Motorcycle Theft: Dropped 72.73%
- Physical Injuries: Dropped 65.52%
Murder was the sole indicator crime to record an increase, rising from seven to ten cases, which regional police officials confirmed remains under close operational monitoring.
Alongside the drop in overall crime, case-resolution metrics demonstrated heightened operational capacity.
Crime clearance efficiency remained steady at 95.03%, while crime solution efficiency rose from 72.12% to 80.66%.
PBGEN Abrahano, who assumed office on August 23, attributed the early gains to his “Prepare, Prevent, and Respond” operational framework, which emphasizes high police visibility, rapid response, and strict discipline.
During the same 17-day period, regional police units executed widespread enforcement operations targeting key criminal activities:
- Anti-Illegal Drugs: 604 operations resulted in 749 arrests and the seizure of over ₱36.19 million in illegal drugs, including 5.11 kilograms of suspected shabu and 842 grams of Kush marijuana.
- Loose Firearms: 153 operations led to 150 arrests, the recovery of 156 firearms, and 59 court filings.
- Illegal Gambling: 521 operations yielded 1,111 arrests and ₱265,854 in confiscated cash and materials.
- Warrants & Ordinances: Authorities apprehended 422 wanted individuals—including 155 listed as Most Wanted Persons—and logged 146,416 local ordinance violations.
Despite the positive initial trajectory, PBGEN Abrahano stressed that police units must maintain their operational momentum and uphold high standards of professional conduct in all community interactions.
