AUTHORITIES intercepted nearly 100 kilograms of suspected high-grade marijuana, locally known as kush, worth an estimated ₱147.48 million during a joint seaport interdiction operation at the Subic Bay Yacht Club on Wednesday evening, September 2, 2026.
Operating units from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) carried out the inspection at around 6:05 PM following reports of illegal drug transport.
During the search of a yacht, a PDEA Narcotic Detection Dog alerted handlers to a compartment containing 89 plastic bags of suspected marijuana kush.
The confiscated drugs weighed a total of approximately 98.32 kilograms, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱147,483,000.
All recovered items were turned over to the PDEA Regional Office 3 Laboratory Section for formal chemical analysis, documentation, and court disposition.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the joint task force, emphasizing that early border interdiction is essential to stopping the spread of illegal narcotics before they enter local communities.
“This is about staying alert and working together. We don’t need to wait for illegal drugs to reach communities before acting,” General Nartatez said, noting that the operation aligns with the PNP’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations agenda to strengthen border control alongside partner agencies.
