ELEVEN individuals were arrested, and cash bets alongside gambling paraphernalia were confiscated during two separate law enforcement operations conducted by the Dagupan City Police Office (DCPO) on September 6, 2026.
The crackdown forms part of the city police force’s ongoing campaign against all forms of illegal gambling, spearheaded by DCPO City Director PCOL Arnold P. Solomon.
The first operation took place at approximately 2:40 PM in Barangay Pantal.
Personnel from Police Station 1, supervised by Station Commander PCPT Christopher E. Agnote, conducted an anti-criminality operation that caught six local residents in the act of playing cards for monetary bets.
Operating officers confiscated three decks of playing cards, two tables with tablecloths, six monoblock chairs, and bet money totaling ₱2,125.00 in various denominations.
Later that evening, at around 10:00 PM, officers from Police Station 5, under the supervision of Station Commander PCPT Romnick B. Bornawi, executed a raid in Barangay Calmay.
The operation led to the arrest of five residents engaged in illegal card games. Confiscated from the site were one deck of cards, a square table, four monoblock chairs, and cash bets amounting to ₱1,101.00.
All 11 suspects were informed of their constitutional rights, underwent required medical examinations at the Region 1 Medical Center, and were brought to their respective police stations for formal processing and documentation.
All seized items were inventoried, marked, and secured as evidence. The suspects remain detained at the DCPO custodial facility while formal charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling) are prepared for court filing.
PCOL Solomon commended the operating units for their swift execution, reiterating that the police force will maintain a strong, visible presence throughout the city to uphold peace and public order.
