A 15-year-old junior high school student tragically drowned after being swept away by strong waves along the shoreline of Laguna Lake in Barangay Pila-pila, local police reported.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, identified by authorities under the alias “Jericho,” was last seen playing near the shore at around 1:30 PM.
Strong waves suddenly pulled the teenager into the water, causing him to submerge and disappear.
At approximately 3:40 PM, a local fisherman preparing to go fishing spotted the victim’s body floating in the lake near the Pritil area.
The witness immediately called neighboring fishermen for assistance, and together they retrieved the body and brought it to shore. Upon recovering the teen, they confirmed he was lifeless.
The fishermen alerted the local Punong Barangay, who promptly reported the incident to the Binangonan Municipal Police Station.
Responding Investigators-on-Case (IOCs) examined the cadaver at the scene and noted no immediate signs of foul play.
The victim’s body was subsequently transferred to Jumils Funeral Service, where he was formally identified by his grandmother, 58-year-old Merlita Albao Eleserio.
The family has chosen to waive the conduct of an autopsy examination.
