PERSONNEL from the Philippine National Police Maritime Group–Regional Maritime Unit 1 (PNP MG-RMU1) mobilized emergency operations across Pangasinan, assisting nearly 400 stranded residents and performing a life-saving medical transport following severe flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Depression “Pilandok.”
Under the supervision of Acting Chief PLtCol. Santos B. Baldovizo and led by PLt. Allan P. Natividad, Assistant Chief of the Investigation and Intelligence Section, deployed vehicles to execute consecutive Libreng Sakay (Free Ride) and rescue missions across Dagupan City and Calasiao on August 30 and 31, 2026.
The disaster response kicked off during the evening of August 30, when officers operated free transit along the Barangay Tapuac–Lucao and Lucao–Calasiao routes.
The initial deployment safely transported approximately 170 commuters who were stranded due to monsoon-induced transportation disruptions.
As weather conditions worsened on August 31, RMU1 expanded its operations.
In close coordination with the Dagupan City Police Office, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), and local barangay officials, the unit carried out targeted evacuation runs in Barangay Lasip Grande.
Police personnel safely evacuated 103 residents directly to the designated relief center at Dagupan City National High School, assisting evacuees with their belongings upon arrival.
Simultaneously, RMU1 extended its transit operations along the Dagupan City to Calasiao route, assisting an additional 124 stranded commuters.
During this deployment, officers intervened in a medical emergency at the Calasiao Public Market, where an adult male had collapsed and lost consciousness.
The team rendered immediate first aid on-site before transporting the patient to Bolingit Hospital in San Carlos City for emergency treatment.
In total, RMU1 provided safe transport and evacuation for 397 individuals over the two-day surge, reinforcing the unit’s mandate to safeguard public welfare and deliver immediate humanitarian aid during severe weather calamities.
