A 61-year-old man listed as one of Pasig City’s most wanted fugitives was arrested Wednesday evening following a joint police manhunt operation in Pampanga.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Mike,” was apprehended at around 7:40 PM in Phase 1, Fiesta Communities, Barangay San Isidro, Mexico, Pampanga.
The operation was executed by operatives from the Eastern Police District’s District Mobile Force Battalion (EPD-DMFB) Intelligence Section, in coordination with the Pampanga Provincial Intelligence Unit.
The suspect, originally a resident of Barangay Bagong Ilog, Pasig City, was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 for rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code.
According to police records, the charge stems from an incident where an 8-year-old girl was invited to play at the suspect’s home.
While standing near him, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the situation and sexually abused the child.
The victim later shared the incident with a friend, who informed the girl’s mother, leading to criminal charges being filed.
Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the EPD-DMFB Intelligence Section for standard processing and documentation.
He will be transferred to the Pasig City Police Station Custodial Facility for temporary detention while awaiting court proceedings.
EPD District Director Police Brigadier General Roman C. Arugay commended the operating units for their coordinated effort in tracking down the fugitive.
“No matter how long it takes or where they choose to hide, individuals facing criminal charges will be located and brought before the courts,” Arugay said, reaffirming the EPD’s commitment to tracking down wanted individuals and upholding public safety across the Metro East region.
