THE Cagayan Police Provincial Office (Cagayan PPO) spearheaded a series of initiatives over the past week focused on internal discipline, youth empowerment, and tourist safety across the province.
Provincial Director PCOL Mardito G. Anguluan led the traditional Monday Flag Raising and Awarding Ceremonies at Camp Tirso H. Gador on September 21, 2026, honoring personnel for exemplary contributions to police operations and administration.
Key awardees included PCPT Prister O. Medrano and PCMS Eugene S. Guillermo (Medalya ng Kagalingan), as well as PMSg Condrado A. Tgauiam, PSSg Bernal Supnet, and PCpl Jolesmar C. Lagundi (Medalya ng Papuri).
Commendations were also awarded to administrative and mobile force personnel. Guest speaker PMAJ Boblavin T. Baloran, Alcala Chief of Police, urged officers to perform their duties with integrity and accountability, especially when unobserved.
Reinforcing community ties, the Cagayan Chapter of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) convened for an interactive dialogue at the Cagayano Cops Multi-Purpose Hall on September 18.
Led by DPDA PLTCOL Sherwin F. Cuntapay and PCADU Deputy Chief PMAJ Verditha T. Cruz, the forum featured retired PLTGEN Hawthorne R. Binag as keynote speaker.
Binag addressed leadership, discipline, and active youth involvement in crime prevention, engaging participants in an open Q&A session designed to deepen relations between police forces and local youth.
Additionally, police officers partnered with the Department of Tourism Regional Office 2 and the Rizal Municipal Tourism Office on September 17 for the 4-Day Barangay Tanod sa Turismo Training Program at the Rizal Museum. EPD officers provided specialized instruction to local watchmen:
- Human Rights & Crisis Management: PCPT Shiela Joy N. Fronda (Chief PIO) presented on BPAT roles, human rights, gender sensitivity, and first responder duties.
- Tourist Safety: PLT Jocelyn Hernandez (Chief, TAC) detailed basic tourist safety principles.
- Legal Frameworks & Emergency Services: Rizal Police Station personnel conducted briefings on Katarungang Pambarangay, Pulis sa Barangay, and the Unified 911 system to improve emergency response at local tourism destinations.
