THE Northern Police District (NPD) has deployed 1,045 personnel to reinforce security operations in Metro Manila during the nationwide observance of the 54th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law on September 21, 2026.
Under the direction of District Director PBGen. Benliner L. Capili, the NPD security contingents were placed in position during the early hours of September 20 to augment the Manila Police District (MPD).
The deployment focuses on key areas across the capital, including positions near the US Embassy, Ayala Bridge, and San Sebastian, led by designated company commanders under PCol. Irinco Bernabe Adora Jr., Chief of the District Operations and Plans Division.
The augmentation aims to maintain high police visibility, ensure public safety, and allow peaceful assemblies while protecting citizens’ rights to express their views within legal bounds.
Meanwhile, standby forces remain stationed within the NPD’s primary area of responsibility to handle localized contingencies.
Comprehensive preparations began on September 19 at the NPD Headquarters in Caloocan City, where Chief of District Directorial Staff PCol. Darnell T. Dulnuan and PCol. Adora led a showdown inspection and physical accounting of Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) personnel and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
PBGen. Capili personally visited deployment areas across Manila to inspect the condition, positioning, and gear completeness of the ground forces.
“The deployment is intended to help maintain peaceful and orderly gatherings, while respecting the people’s right to express their views and sentiments in accordance with the law,” the NPD said in a statement, emphasizing its adherence to the core operational framework of “Prepare, Prevent, Respond” under the PNP’s broader service guidelines.
