THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is intensifying security measures and strengthening coordination across Metro Manila schools following a recent tragic incident involving students in South Cotabato.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano expressed deep sympathies to the affected students, families, and educators, emphasizing that the police force is proactively applying lessons learned from the incident to protect campus communities across the capital region.
Aligning with directives from Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the NCRPO is expanding its collaboration with local government units, school administrators, security personnel, and community stakeholders.
The initiative aims to streamline communication so that safety concerns are reported and addressed without delay.
“We are taking the lessons from these incidents seriously, but we also want to assure parents, students, and our school communities that there is no reason to panic,” Abrahano said.
“Our approach is to strengthen prevention, improve coordination, and respond to risks based on facts and credible information,” Abrahano added.
Key components of the enhanced security framework include urging gun owners to observe strict firearm security and proper safekeeping to ensure weapons remain inaccessible to minors.
Additionally, the NCRPO will work closely with the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to investigate online threats, violent content, or digital warnings directed at educational institutions.
Abrahano highlighted that future adjustments to police deployment will remain intelligence-led, risk-based, and proportionate, ensuring campuses stay secure without disrupting the learning environment.
He also urged the public to report credible threats while refraining from sharing unverified rumors that generate unnecessary fear.
“We will continue to assess the situation based on verified information. We will not unnecessarily alarm our communities, but neither will we ignore information that requires appropriate attention,” Abrahano said.
“Our goal is simple: safer schools, better coordination, and a community that knows we are ready to act when it matters,” concluded Abrahano.
