A violent shooting incident at Banga National High School in Barangay Benitez left three people dead and several others injured on Friday afternoon, September 18, 2026.
According to initial reports from the Philippine National Police (PNP), the tragedy unfolded at approximately 1:00 PM inside the school grounds.
Police identified the suspect as a 14-year-old male child in conflict with the law (CICL), known by the alias “LJL.”
Nine high school students were initially reported as victims among those affected during the attack.
Emergency responders and officers from the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office and Police Regional Office 12 (PRO 12) immediately secured the campus, assisted the wounded, and coordinated with school authorities to evacuate students and staff safely.
Following the report, PRO 12 Regional Director PBGEN Alan B. Manibog personally visited the site to inspect the situation, oversee police response, and direct a thorough investigation.
“We immediately went to the area to personally verify the incident and ensure a proper police response,” PBGEN Manibog stated.
“We understand the fear and concern of parents, teachers, and the entire school community. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we will ensure a meticulous investigation to fully determine what transpired,” added Manibog.
The PNP confirmed that three individuals lost their lives, while medical personnel continue to treat the wounded.
Authorities are still conducting background checks to confirm the identities, conditions, and exact circumstances surrounding all individuals involved.
In light of the ongoing investigation, police officials strongly urged the public to refrain from circulating unverified reports, photos, or videos on social media to respect the victims and their families.
The PNP assured that official, verified updates will be released as new details emerge, while their immediate focus remains on securing the school community and pursuing justice.
