PROMPT action by police officers responding to a resident’s tip led to the arrest of a 45-year-old tricycle driver caught in possession of an unlicensed handgun in Barangay Cupang on Friday night.
Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Jess,” a resident of the area.
At around 10:15 PM on September 11, 2026, patrollers from the Cupang Police Sub-Station under the Muntinlupa City Police Station acted on a phone call from a concerned citizen reporting an armed man creating panic in a residential neighborhood at PNR Site, Purok 2.
Responding officers located and detained the suspect inside a makeshift shelter.
During the arrest, police recovered a .38 caliber revolver with a defaced serial number and two live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was unable to produce valid documentation or legal permits for the firearm.
Officers informed the suspect of his constitutional rights before transferring him to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) of the Muntinlupa CPS.
Formal documentation and inquest proceedings are currently underway for charges related to the violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
