AROUND 150 young leaders from Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City gathered at the Pranjetto Hills Resort and Conference Center on September 5–6 for the SK Maybunga Youth Camp 2026, an initiative focused on civic responsibility, safety awareness, and community engagement.
Centering on the theme “Bayanihan, Kaligtasan at Pagkakaisa” (Unity, Safety, and Cooperation), the two-day event was organized by the Barangay Maybunga Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officers alongside the Pasig City Local Government Unit and the Eastern Police District (EPD).
The initiative was spearheaded by Ms. FC Salandanan of the EPD District Advisory Group for Transformation and Development, with coordination from the District Community Affairs and Development Division (DCADD) under PLTCOL Randy C. Moratalla and the supervision of Acting District Director PBGEN Melecio M. Buslig, Jr.
Following an orientation on safety, discipline, and responsible participation, campers engaged in interactive lectures covering anti-criminality guidelines, disaster preparedness, civic responsibility, and voters’ education.
Expert speakers from the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), the SK Federation, and EPD personnel—including candidates and winners from the Mr. and Ms. EPD 2026 pageant—led the educational sessions and discussions.
A major highlight of the camp was a series of team-building exercises, featuring sports, obstacle challenges, and collaborative games intended to build camaraderie, leadership, and trust among the participants.
The program concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing outstanding participants and teams for their active involvement and performance throughout the weekend.
Organizers emphasized that the successful camp highlights the impact of multi-sectoral partnerships between local youth leaders, city officials, and police forces in empowering young citizens and fostering safer, more resilient communities.
