A quick-thinking resident and vigilant barangay responders teamed up with local police on Thursday morning to apprehend three suspects accused of stealing over ₱21,000 worth of household and electronic items.
The incident unfolded around 7:00 AM on September 10 along S. Pascual Street in Barangay San Agustin.
According to initial police reports, a female resident caught three individuals actively taking items near her property.
As the suspects fled with the goods, she alerted nearby Barangay Tanods, who gave chase and successfully cornered the group.
Officers from Sub Station 6 of the Malabon City Police Station arrived shortly after to take the suspects into custody and process the scene.
Police recovered a wide array of stolen goods valued at approximately ₱21,300, including:
- A metal drainage cover
- A digital timer/shot clock
- A motorcycle top box
- A pair of Jordan shoes
- A basketball, a power bank, and assorted plastic tools
The three suspects remain in police custody while formal charges are being prepared against them. All recovered property has been documented and processed by investigators.
Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Officer in Charge of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), commended the neighborhood’s prompt actions, emphasizing that public vigilance plays a critical role in community safety.
“Swift reporting and active community participation are vital in ensuring prompt response and immediate accountability for those who violate the law,” PBGEN Abrahano stated.
“Through vigilance and cooperation, we strengthen crime prevention and help maintain a safer environment for everyone,” added Abrahano.
