THE Eastern Police District (EPD) recorded an 18.42% reduction in its eight focus crimes during the first three months of Acting District Director PBGEN Melecio M. Buslig, Jr.’s tenure, pointing to early gains from intensified law enforcement strategies across eastern Metro Manila.
Data released by the district showed overall focus crime incidents fell to 186 between June 1 and August 31, 2026, down from 228 recorded in the preceding three-month period from March 1 to May 31, 2026.
The EPD attributes the lower crime figures to sustained proactive operations carried out across its jurisdiction, covering the cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan.
These efforts were supported by the District Mobile Force Battalion and district headquarters personnel.
Major tactical operations during the period led to key arrests and the disruption of organized crime networks.
Police neutralized the PAPS Carnapping Group operating in Marikina City, arresting eight individuals while recovering stolen vehicles and firearms.
Authorities also apprehended five suspected members of the GAPOS Gang, who had allegedly posed as police officers to carry out illegal activities, alongside several robbery syndicate suspects operating in Pasig and Mandaluyong.
Parallel enforcement campaigns against organized illegal activities yielded significant operational figures.
The district conducted 674 anti-illegal drug operations resulting in 796 arrests and the seizure of illicit drugs valued at approximately ₱10.54 million under standard drug pricing metrics.
Additionally, 435 operations against illegal gambling led to 592 arrests, while 54 anti-loose firearms operations resulted in 59 arrests and 60 confiscated weapons.
Ongoing manhunt operations across the district further led to the arrest of 714 wanted individuals.
District leadership highlighted “Oplan S.H.I.E.L.D.” as a key operational model driving these preventive policing results, emphasizing early threat disruption, rapid tactical response, and close coordination with local community stakeholders.
General Buslig commended district officers and community partners, emphasizing that the EPD will continue strengthening strategic enforcement and public partnerships to maintain peace and order throughout eastern Metro Manila.
