QUICK police intervention and community vigilance led to the arrest of a 46-year-old repeat offender caught red-handed with stolen copper wires in Barangay Kaunlaran early Tuesday morning, September 2, 2026.
Operatives from the Cubao Police Station 7 (PS7-QCPD) apprehended the suspect at around 3:40 AM following a prompt emergency report along N. Domingo Street.
Police reports indicate that a 39-year-old witness was inspecting the warehouse under instructions from its owner when he noticed the suspect emerging through an unauthorized hole forced into the structure’s corrugated metal wall.
The alert witness confronted and restrained the suspect carrying a sack until responding officers arrived at the scene.
Law enforcers recovered approximately 5.76 kilograms of stolen copper wire valued at ₱10,000, which was positively identified as property belonging to the warehouse.
Police background checks revealed a history of prior arrests for the suspect:
- May 5, 2018: Arrested for Robbery under Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code
- August 9, 2018: Arrested for Violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act)
- February 21, 2023: Arrested for Violation of RA 10515 (Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act)
Investigators are probing the suspect’s possible connection to earlier burglaries at the same warehouse.
Management records show two power grinders and a circular saw were reported stolen on August 28, followed by the theft of three sacks containing 20 kilograms of copper wire valued at ₱50,000 on August 30.
Authorities are working to locate the unaccounted equipment and materials.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano commended both the witness and responding officers for their swift action.
“This arrest sends a clear message: vigilance leaves criminals with nowhere to hide,” Abrahano stated. “When the public acts and the police respond swiftly, crimes are stopped, stolen property is recovered, and offenders are brought to justice.”
The suspect remains in custody at PS7-QCPD while case files are prepared for inquest proceedings before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for Robbery in an Uninhabited Place under Article 302 of the Revised Penal Code.
