BARELY a week after taking the helm of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Officer-in-Charge PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano oversaw a region-wide operational drive that cut Metro Manila’s focus crime incidents by 51 percent.
During the operational week spanning August 24 to 30, 2026, total focus crime incidents fell to 57 cases compared to 117 cases reported during the same timeframe last year.
Major crime categories saw significant double-digit percentage drops:
- Motorcycle Carnapping: Down by 84%
- Physical Injury: Down by 78%
- Robbery: Down by 74%
- Theft: Down by 42%
Alongside the decline in overall crime, the region’s Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) improved to 78.95 percent, marking a 5.44-percentage-point gain year-over-year.
Simultaneous police operations across the five Metro Manila districts resulted in the arrest of 1,185 total individuals and the confiscation of over ₱8.8 million in illicit drugs and cash.
Anti-illegal drug operations accounted for a major share of the seizures. Operatives executed 243 drug stings, arresting 308 suspects and confiscating 1,293.84 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱8.75 million.
The Southern Police District (SPD) recorded the highest drug-enforcement yield, conducting 77 operations that led to 102 arrests, followed closely by the Eastern Police District (EPD) and the Manila Police District (MPD).
Police units also targeted illegal gambling, conducting 218 operations that yielded 449 arrests and ₱109,500 in confiscated gambling money. In separate operations against loose firearms, officers executed 58 raids, arresting 58 individuals and recovering 58 illegal handguns and weapons.
Fugitive manhunts led to the apprehension of 370 wanted persons, including 102 listed as “most wanted” targets.
The MPD led all districts in capturing high-priority targets with 35 most-wanted arrests, while the EPD apprehended 75 other wanted fugitives.
PBGEN Abrahano noted that the operational gains reflect increased public safety across the capital.
“Hindi lamang ito mga numero,” Abrahano stated, emphasizing that the reduction in crime represents protected lives, safer neighborhoods, and dedicated public service across Metro Manila’s police force.
