NORTHERN Police District (NPD) Director Police Brigadier General Benliner L. Capili joined National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano on Thursday for a media meet-and-greet at Camp Bagong Diwa, even as the district launched an investigation into a viral video involving one of its officers.
The media forum, held at the Hinirang Multi-Purpose Hall in Taguig, brought together NCRPO officials and press members to strengthen inter-agency communication, foster transparency, and promote responsible coverage of public safety issues.
NPD officials emphasized that maintaining open ties with the press supports the Philippine National Police’s commitment to professional, people-centered service.
Meanwhile, the NPD confirmed it has opened a formal inquiry into a viral Facebook post and accompanying CCTV footage depicting an alleged illegal discharge of a firearm by an officer assigned to the Valenzuela City Police Station. The incident reportedly took place in Marilao, Bulacan.
District authorities stated that the incident was immediately subjected to validation in coordination with local officials in Bulacan.
The NPD reaffirmed its strict zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal acts or professional misconduct within its ranks.
“The NPD emphasizes that it does not tolerate any act that violates the law, police rules, or the standards expected from every member of the PNP,” the district said in an official statement, reassuring the public that the investigation will remain fair, objective, and bound by due process.
