A 46-year-old Filipino passenger arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on September 3, 2026, after authorities discovered an outstanding warrant for murder against him.
The apprehension was initiated after Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers flagged the incoming traveler under an Alert List Order (ALO).
BI personnel alerted NAIA Police Station 1 (NPS 1), whose officers escorted the passenger to the station for verification.
A status check using the Philippine National Police (PNP) E-Warrant System confirmed that an active alias warrant for Murder—issued by the Regional Trial Court of Lanao Branch 26 with no bail recommended—remained valid and unserved.
Following confirmation, NPS 1 coordinated with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit National Capital Region–Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit (CIDG RFU NCR-SMMDFU) to jointly serve the warrant.
Officers informed the suspect of his constitutional rights in Tagalog and used an alternative recording device (ARD) during the arrest, in accordance with standard procedure.
The suspect remains in CIDG custody for documentation and court disposition.
Police Brigadier General Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr., Director of the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), stated that airport authorities and law enforcement partners remain committed to tightening airport security to ensure individuals with outstanding legal obligations are held accountable.
