OPERATIVES of the Marikina City Police Station arrested a 45-year-old man listed as the station’s Top 7 most wanted person on Wednesday afternoon, September 23.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Benny,” was apprehended at around 1:45 PM on the ground floor of the Justice Hall Building in Barangay Sta. Elena, Marikina City.
The arrest was carried out by members of the warrant and subpoena unit by virtue of a warrant issued by the Family Court, Branch 7, Marikina City.
Benny faces five counts of sexual abuse under Section 5(B) of Republic Act 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Bail was recommended at ₱1,000,000.
The charges stem from a complaint filed by a 16-year-old victim who reported waking up to the suspect touching her private parts in her room before he fled.
The victim disclosed the incident to her mother, leading to legal action.
Following the arrest, the suspect was placed in the custody of the Marikina City Police Station for processing and legal disposition, while officers filed the required return of warrant electronically with the court.
Eastern Police District Director Police Brigadier General Roman C. Arugay reiterated the district’s resolve to apprehend fugitives, particularly those accused of crimes against minors.
“Every arrest of a wanted individual is a step toward justice, especially in cases involving the protection of minors,” Arugay said, reaffirming the EPD’s commitment to maintaining safety and order across Metro East.
