THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has rolled out comprehensive security and traffic management plans ahead of the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Metro Manila this November.
Under the direction of Officer-in-Charge PBGen. Christopher Abrahano and PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the NCRPO is coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and sister law enforcement agencies to execute a unified security protocol before, during, and after the international gathering.
“Our objective is clear: to provide a safe, secure and orderly environment for our ASEAN leaders, delegates and guests, while ensuring that the daily activities of our people in Metro Manila continue with as little disruption as possible,” Abrahano said.
Police preparations encompass increased foot and mobile patrols, route and venue security, intelligence gathering, protection of vital installations, and rapid-response deployments near summit venues, delegate hotels, and convergence points.
The regional police force is also aligning with traffic management agencies to facilitate official convoy movements while maintaining accessible alternative routes for daily commuters, motorists, and emergency services.
“We appeal to the public for patience, understanding and cooperation,” Abrahano added.
“The temporary traffic and security measures that may be implemented are necessary to protect our guests and our communities,” reiterated Abrahano.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared Nov. 16 to 18 as special non-working days across the National Capital Region to accommodate the event, ensure smooth delegate movements, and minimize public inconvenience.
Police officials reaffirmed their readiness, stating that security deployments will remain active until all summit activities safely conclude.
