POLICE response times across Metro Manila are set to improve after the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) deployed 73 new motorcycles dedicated to handling 911 emergency hotline calls.
The additional two-wheeled units aim to help law enforcement bypass Metro Manila’s notoriously heavy traffic and navigate narrow, congested streets that often slow down standard patrol cars.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano highlighted the critical role of the new fleet in time-sensitive situations.
“Every second matters during an emergency. These additional motorcycles will give our responders greater mobility and allow them to reach people in distress as quickly as possible,” Abrahano said, noting that the initiative received key backing from Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla and PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Rather than replacing traditional units, the new motorcycles will complement existing police cars and ground personnel.
Abrahano has already instructed regional police commanders to strategically position the motorcycle units across key areas for immediate dispatch upon receiving a 911 alert.
He emphasized that the move is part of a broader push to streamline the entire emergency chain—from initial call reception to actual scene arrival.
In light of the upgraded fleet, the NCRPO also appealed to the public to use the 911 hotline responsibly.
Callers are urged to remain calm and clearly state their exact location and the nature of the emergency so responders can be dispatched without delay.
