THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported a generally peaceful and orderly observance of the 54th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law across the city today, September 21, 2026, with no major untoward incidents recorded.
Under the leadership of Acting District Director Police Brigadier General Christopher Olazo, police personnel were strategically deployed to secure key areas, including the EDSA People Power Monument, the House of Representatives, Welcome Rotonda, and the Bantayog ng mga Bayani.
Authorities noted that no protest rallies took place within the primary deployment zones.
The security deployment was carried out under directives from Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and guidance from National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano.
Preparations involved inter-agency coordination, personnel briefings, and walkthrough inspections in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and the Department of Public Order and Safety.
The QCPD also coordinated closely with the Quezon City Government, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, engaging local departments including the Traffic and Transport Management Department, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Task Force Disiplina, and the City Health Department.
“Through the cooperation and coordination of our partner agencies and personnel on the ground, we successfully ensured the safety and security of the public and maintained peace and order throughout the observance, resulting in no major untoward incidents,” Olazo said.
