THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is intensifying its anti-illegal drug campaign across Metro Manila to prevent drug syndicates from exploiting the surge in economic activity during the “ber” months and upcoming holiday season.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano announced that police units are scaling up preventive and intelligence-driven measures.
Authorities anticipate that increased cash flow from holiday bonuses and heightened public gatherings could lead to attempts by criminal syndicates to expand illicit drug distribution in the capital region.
To counter potential operations, the NCRPO is strengthening collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other law enforcement bodies to enhance intelligence sharing and joint operations.
Police presence and monitoring will be elevated in high-risk zones, including nightlife districts, transport terminals, and commercial hubs.
“We will strengthen intelligence monitoring and law enforcement operations against drug syndicates, particularly during the holiday season when criminal activities may increase,” Abrahano said, emphasizing that increased visibility aims to deter illicit trades and speed up police response times.
The intensified campaign aligns with directives from Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to maintain aggressive, results-oriented law enforcement.
The announcement follows a major drug bust in Las Piñas City on September 19, 2026, where NCRPO operatives arrested a 40-year-old suspect and seized approximately 30 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) valued at ₱204 million.
Abrahano called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug-related activities to nearby stations, noting that community cooperation remains critical to keeping neighborhoods safe during the festivities.
“Our collective vigilance is key to keeping our communities safe,” Abrahano added. “We urge everyone to remain alert and cooperate with the police in preventing illegal drugs from taking advantage of the increased activity during the holiday season.”
