A joint police operation led to the arrest of a suspect linked to the robbery and shooting of a passenger van driver in Purok 1, Barangay Napolidan, Lupi, Camarines Sur on Tuesday, September 15.
Authorities identified the suspect by his moniker alias “Jun-jun,” a resident of Bato, Camarines Sur.
The arrest came after the Basud Municipal Police Station (MPS) launched a follow-up operation following the attack.
Police pinpointed and tracked the suspect’s whereabouts using CCTV footage, digital location tracing, and intelligence gathering in coordination with neighboring units.
During the hot-pursuit operation, law enforcers seized a .45-caliber Armscor pistol loaded with a live round, an additional steel magazine with six rounds of ammunition, and three mobile phones (a Redmi, Tecno Spark, and iPhone).
Operatives also recovered ₱23,872.25 in total cash, including ₱23,850 in various paper bills, a brown wallet, and a plastic container holding ₱322.25 in coins.
The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound during the robbery, is currently recovering in stable condition at a local hospital.
The suspect was taken to the Basud MPS for booking, documentation, and formal processing.
Investigators are checking electronic databases—including the Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS), e-Rouge, and the e-Warrant System—to verify if the suspect has previous criminal records or active warrants.
All recovered items were inventoried and turned over as evidence in accordance with standard legal procedures as authorities continue their investigation.
