THE Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) joined hands with partner law enforcement agencies and local government officials to conduct a coastal clean-up and mangrove planting activity at Oceanside, Barangay South Poblacion in the City of Naga, Cebu, on September 12, 2026.
Participants planted a total of 100 mangrove seedlings and cleared coastal waste during the early morning initiative, which began at 5:30 AM to support marine ecosystem preservation and coastline protection.
The event was spearheaded by the PRO7 Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD) in close coordination with the City of Naga Police Station.
Key personnel in attendance included PMaj. Jasmin D. Sario, Chief of the RCADD Community Affairs Section; PMaj. Roberto Pepito, Chief of the RCADD Public Information Section; and PLtCol. Dexter M. Calacar, Chief of Police of the City of Naga.
The activity brought together personnel from PRO7, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Naga City Local Government Unit (LGU).
Councilor Elmer John Lapitan represented City Mayor Valdemar “Val” Chiong during the joint effort.
PRO7 Regional Director PBGen. Arnold E. Abad highlighted environmental protection as an essential pillar of community-oriented policing, stressing the role of coastal ecosystems in safeguarding local communities.
“By planting mangroves and keeping our coastlines clean, we help protect our communities, preserve marine life, and leave a healthier environment for future generations,” Abad said, encouraging the public to actively participate in preserving local marine habitats.
