SWIFT police action and CCTV footage led to the arrest of three individuals and the full recovery of ₱35,200 worth of stolen items following a break-in at the Permanent Evacuation Center in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
The burglary was discovered at around 8:00 AM when two government employees arrived at work to find their office ransacked and missing multiple pieces of equipment.
Security footage showed an intruder entering through a window at 12:50 AM, gathering valuables, and escaping through another window around 2:14 AM.
Using digital evidence and local intelligence, operatives from the Mandaluyong City Police Station tracked down a 21-year-old male suspect at his residence, arresting him and retrieving a stolen shoulder bag.
Follow-up operations quickly led to two additional cohorts—a 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman—who were apprehended for attempting to fence and sell the remaining loot.
Authorities recovered the full array of stolen office gear and equipment, including:
- Electronics & Accessories: An Acer laptop with charger, a speaker system with a microphone, a radio with charger, two wireless computer mice, a keyboard, and two electrical extension wires.
- Miscellaneous Supplies: A mini tripod, a first-aid kit pouch, reading glasses with a pouch, and a mortar and pestle set.
Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Officer-in-Charge of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), praised the arresting units for leveraging technology and local support.
“Every report requires prompt action. We will continue to use available information and community cooperation to identify those responsible, recover stolen property, and keep our communities safe,” Abrahano said.
The three suspects remain in custody at the Mandaluyong City Police Station. Criminal charges are being finalized for filing through inquest proceedings before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office.
