THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has stepped up its proactive public safety push across Quezon City, pairing citywide community information drives with targeted law enforcement responses.
Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Christopher Olazo, the QCPD conducted 3,320 “Oplan Bandillo” activities across various barangays from August 31 to September 6.
Using public address systems in high-foot-traffic areas and public convergence points, police personnel delivered real-time security advisories and practical crime prevention tips to promote community vigilance.
Among all QCPD units, Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) spearheaded the initiative with 780 activities, followed by Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) with 487, and Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) with 400.
“Through Oplan Bandillo, we strive to make safety reminders and information faster and more accessible to our fellow citizens,” PBGEN Olazo said in Filipino.
Complementing this community engagement, police visibility and swift response led to the arrest of a repeat offender in Novaliches on Thursday night, September 10.
Operatives from PS 4, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Rolando Baula, responded to a text report from a concerned citizen regarding an individual causing a disturbance near the Sauyo-Bagbag Market in Barangay Bagbag.
Upon arrival around 11:50 PM, officers caught the suspect—identified as 31-year-old alias “Val”—allegedly shouting while brandishing a handgun.
Law enforcers immediately arrested the suspect and confiscated an improvised caliber .38 firearm alongside two live rounds.
Background checks revealed that “Val” is a repeat offender with previous arrests for robbery in February 2017 and illegal gambling in April 2025.
He will face formal charges for Alarms and Scandals under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code and violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
PBGEN Olazo warned that the QCPD will not tolerate actions that cause fear or disruption, reiterating that rapid responses to public tips remain central to keeping Quezon City safe.
