THE Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) conducted back-to-back community outreach lectures on Wednesday, equipping local tax officials with emergency active attack response tactics and educating residents on scam and gang prevention.
Led by Police Colonel Joey T. Goforth, Chief of Police, and Police Lieutenant Ma. Gracia E. Balderas, Officer-in-Charge of the Community Affairs Section (CAS), the dual outreach aimed to strengthen emergency preparedness and public vigilance across key sectors in the city.
The morning session took place at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) office in Barrio Calaanan, EDSA, where 50 BIR employees and safety officers gathered for an active attack safety drill.
Instructors from the CAS, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, and Sub-Station 5 guided participants through critical response protocols.
Police Staff Sergeant John Mikko Camerino outlined the three essential strategies during an active threat: Avoid, Deny, and Defend.
Officers urged staff to map out building exit routes, stay calm, and move away from danger whenever possible.
SWAT officer Police Chief Master Sergeant Amorsolo Festejo also delivered a firearm safety briefing, emphasizing strict rules on authorized gun handling.
Later that afternoon, CCPS officers shifted their focus to community-level safety at Barangay Hall 176-B.
The lecture brought together local officials, led by Punong Barangay Sammy D.G. Reyes, alongside Sub-Station 13 personnel to address rising neighborhood security concerns.
Police Staff Sergeants Abegail P. Gutierrez and Marie Ann F. Melgar led discussions on identifying gang modus operandi, recognizing common internet and text scams, and raising awareness about sexual assault prevention.
Officers urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities, highlighting that early community detection remains a key defense against fraudulent schemes and local crime.
Police officials noted that conducting regular safety drills and crime prevention seminars in government workplaces and barangays fosters stronger coordination between law enforcement and the public, helping maintain a safer environment across Caloocan City.
