PERSONNEL from the Northern Police District (NPD) joined forces with local fire officials on Thursday to participate in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at the district headquarters along Tanigue Street, corner Dagat-Dagatan Avenue.
Led by NPD District Director Police Brigadier General Benliner L. Capili, police officers carried out standard earthquake safety protocols—most notably the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure—to test emergency response readiness during a simulated seismic event.
The quarterly safety exercise was coordinated alongside the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), represented by Fire Inspector Sheila T. Eneran.
Beyond practicing immediate safety maneuvers, the drill served to evaluate and enhance operational coordination between police and fire personnel during multi-agency emergency responses.
Local authorities emphasized that routine participation in national disaster drills helps ensure both personnel safety and seamless assistance to surrounding communities during actual emergencies.
The NPD reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high operational readiness, noting that regular joint exercises with partner agencies like the BFP remain central to the district’s disaster response strategy.
