THE Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) referred 23 cybercrime cases for regular filing over a single week, identifying online libel as the most prevalent digital offense reported between August 28 and September 3, 2026.
Of the total cases built up by investigators, 11 involved cyber libel under Section 4(c)4 of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The unit also referred four cases involving swindling and estafa under the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA No. 10951, alongside violations of Section 4(a)1 of RA No. 12010, also known as the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA).
Two additional cases involved unjust vexation in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act and online libel.
The operational push aligns with directives from PNP Chief PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. to step up proactive cyber patrolling, streamline investigations, and expedite the prosecution of individuals using online platforms for illegal activities.
PNP ACG Director PMGen Asueta reiterated the group’s intent to sustain its enforcement operations through structured case build-ups and multi-agency coordination to mitigate digital threats, online financial fraud, and cyber harassment across the country.
