A early-morning series of collisions left one person dead and several others injured along major thoroughfares in Quezon City on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
According to initial reports from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the incident unfolded around 3:00 AM when a Mitsubishi Montero SUV, driven by a suspect identified only as alias “Carl,” crashed into several cars and motorcycles along Tomas Morato Avenue heading toward Elliptical Road.
Rather than stopping, the SUV continued its path toward Quezon Avenue and Elliptical Road, triggering additional collisions before police could intervene.
Responding personnel from QCPD Traffic Sector 4 intercepted the subject vehicle and took the driver into custody.
Emergency responders rushed the injured victims to East Avenue Medical Center and Quezon City General Hospital for immediate medical treatment. One victim was pronounced dead.
Expressing condolences to the deceased’s family, the QCPD stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the continuous collisions and to file appropriate criminal charges against the suspect.
Authorities reiterated their call for motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and practice responsible driving to ensure public safety on the capital’s roads.
