UNIFORMED personnel from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) underwent a three-day firearms proficiency activity at the LRP Firing Range from August 26 to 28, aimed at sharpening their operational readiness and weapon handling skills.
Organized by the LRP Firearms and Ordnance Section (FOS), the training was conducted with assistance from the Local Corrections National Training Institute (LCNTI) personnel who previously completed the Range Officers Orientation Seminar.
The initiative provided officers with hands-on practice to improve familiarity, proper handling, and safe usage of their issued firearms.
LRP Superintendent C/SSUPT Ruben R. Formoso highlighted the vital role of ongoing skills development in keeping personnel prepared for operational demands.
Formoso urged participants to approach the training with seriousness while maintaining strict safety standards, discipline, and professionalism throughout the sessions.
According to prison officials, the periodic training reinforces safety protocols and adherence to established standard operating procedures.
The activity forms part of LRP’s broader commitment to maintaining a disciplined and competent workforce dedicated to secure custody and institutional safety.
