OPERATIVES of the Manila Police District’s Special Manila Reaction Team (S.Ma.R.T.) apprehended the district’s second most wanted person in an intelligence-led operation in Quezon City on Monday afternoon, August 31, 2026.
Authorities identified the suspect by the alias “Carlos,” a 54-year-old resident of Tondo, Manila.
He was tracked down and arrested at around 3:00 PM along Branches Street in Barangay Sangandaan, Quezon City, through “Operation Pagtugis.”
The operation was conducted by S.Ma.R.T. personnel led by PMAJ Kevin Rey D. Bautista and supervised by S.Ma.R.T. Chief PLTCOL Cicero M. Pura, following operational directives from MPD Director PBGEN Atty. Arnold C. Santiago.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for statutory rape issued on January 14, 2026, by Branch 6 of the Manila Regional Trial Court. The court recommended no bail for his temporary release.
The suspect was brought to the S.Ma.R.T. headquarters for booking and documentation while police prepare the return of the arrest warrant to the issuing court.
MPD leadership commended the operating unit, reaffirming its commitment to intensify operations against high-priority fugitives across Metro Manila.
