IN line with government initiatives to foster secure communities and workplaces, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a series of education and advocacy campaigns across the provinces of La Union and Pangasinan throughout late August 2026.
The anti-drug advocacy series began on August 19, 2026, when the Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) hosted a drug-free workplace seminar at its conference room.
In partnership with PDEA and guided by Regional Office I Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Marvin O. Tavares, the event informed healthcare workers on Civil Service Commission and Dangerous Drugs Board mandates.
Discussions highlighted Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, emphasizing the legal framework for sustaining employee safety and prevention measures in medical facilities.
Efforts expanded on August 27, 2026, through two simultaneous events.
In Pangasinan, PECI Officers supervised by IA V Dexter B. Asayco delivered Drug-Free Workplace Program orientations and lectures on the ill effects of illegal drugs across 20 barangays in Bayambang—including Zone I through VII, Poblacion Sur, and Nalsian Norte.
Held under DDB Regulation No. 13, Series of 2018, the sessions engaged local officials, LGU representatives, and barangay employees.
On the same day in La Union, PDEA Provincial Officer IA V Richard U. Tinong’s team participated in the DILG La Union TEAMPUYOG Provincial Conference.
The hybrid meeting, led by DILG Provincial Director Dir. Virgilio P. Sison, focused on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP), evaluation procedures, and status retention criteria for local field officers.
Community-level training continued on August 28, 2026, at Lingsat Barangay Hall in San Fernando City, La Union.
Fifty-eight participants from Barangays Carlatan, Lingsat, Dalumpinas Este, and Dalumpinas Oeste attended a Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) capacitation session covering drug prevention strategies and community engagement.
Finally, on August 29, 2026, PDEA La Union concluded the monthly outreach in Barangay Concepcion, Rosario.
Officers held a targeted BADAC and youth-focused session for local leaders and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to reinforce their responsibilities under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.
