THE Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) intensified its youth protection efforts across Iloilo, conducting back-to-back digital safety and cybercrime awareness lectures in the municipalities of Dumangas and Miag-ao.
Under the supervision of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 (RACU 6) Chief PCol. Richard Adonis J. Habawel, police personnel delivered a Cybercrime Prevention and Awareness Lecture at Dumangas National High School on August 24, 2026.
Held as part of the “Safe School, Healthy Learners: A Symposium on Student Safety and Welfare,” the session focused on educating students about digital threats, including online bomb threats, cyberbullying, general cyber offenses, and the emerging threat of Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).
Discussions emphasized practical preventive measures and applicable legal frameworks to help students make informed digital choices.
The school outreach followed an earlier community-based lecture on August 22 at Liga Hall in Barangay Guibongan, Miagao, Iloilo.
Organized for the “Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 Symposium”—centered on the theme “Safe Spaces in the Digital Age: Promoting Violence-Free and Bully-Free Schools”—the event provided local youth with tools to navigate the internet safely, protect themselves against online bullying, and practice responsible digital citizenship.
PMGen. Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, stressed the importance of proactive education in curbing digital risks among younger demographics.
“Through continuous cyber safety education, we empower our youth and communities to recognize online risks, make responsible digital choices, and take an active role in preventing cybercrime and cyberbullying,” PMGen. Asueta stated. “Together, we can build a safer, more respectful, and responsible digital community.”
