STRENGTHENING community vigilance and internal law enforcement capabilities, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) conducted specialized digital safety and intelligence lectures across Mindanao and Luzon.
On August 25, 2026, personnel from the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Cyber Response Team (SKPCRT), supervised by Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 12 (RACU 12) Chief PCol. Alvin M. Martin, spearheaded a Cybercrime Awareness Lecture in Barangay San Emmanuel, Tacurong City.
Part of the broader “Cyberbullying and Parenting Advocacy Campaign,” the event focused on educating local residents on online safety, responsible social media usage, cyberbullying prevention, gender-responsive measures, and strategies against Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), and Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).
“By empowering parents and students with knowledge and awareness, we help them recognize online risks, make safer choices, and work together to create a safer and more responsible online community,” said PMGen. Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.
The following day, August 26, RACU 5—under the leadership of PCol. Gilbert E. Remo—focused on internal operational training by conducting a Basic Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT) lecture at Camp Wenceslao Q. Vinzons Sr. in Daet, Camarines Norte.
Held as part of a five-day basic information collection and analysis seminar (BICAS), the session trained Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) on identifying, gathering, verifying, documenting, and analyzing publicly available social media data.
Instructors emphasized adherence to legal standards, ethical guidelines, and privacy laws during intelligence operations.
Asueta noted that upgrading technical skills remains vital to modern police work.
“Strengthening our personnel’s knowledge and skills in Social Media Intelligence is vital in keeping pace with the evolving digital landscape. Through the responsible and lawful use of publicly available information, we can further enhance our capabilities in preventing and investigating cybercrime,” he stated.
