THE Eastern Police District (EPD) and its localized stations have intensified campus security and police visibility across Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan following a series of online threats directed at local educational institutions.
Under the direction of Acting District Director PBGen. Melecio M. Buslig, Jr., the EPD coordinated with the Eastern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (EDACT) to trace the origin and verify the authenticity of circulating online threats.
In response, police personnel were deployed to establish high-visibility patrols, vehicular checkpoints, and site security checks in and around school premises.
In Mandaluyong City, Chief of Police PCol. Reynan V. Patam reported that officers immediately assisted local authorities and barangay officials with access control evaluations and campus monitoring following a reported security concern.
While specialized police units conduct their investigation, school authorities opted to transition classes to online synchronous sessions as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the Pasig City Police Station addressed recent threats that circulated through viral videos, pictures, and posts, clarifying that the content posed no actual physical danger.
Investigations revealed that the individuals responsible for sharing the material did so out of fun and hype without realizing the impact of their actions.
Working alongside the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and local government units, police ensured proper interventions were provided to the involved learners under the supervision of their parents and school guidance personnel.
Throughout Metro East, law enforcement agencies are maintaining close coordination with campus administrators, security personnel, and local officials to sustain open lines of communication and safeguard students and staff.
Police authorities collectively urged the public to remain calm and refrain from re-sharing unverified online posts that create unnecessary panic.
The EPD reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring a safe learning environment across all academic institutions in the region.
