A reported member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters–Bungos Faction (BIFF-BF) voluntarily surrendered to government security forces on August 25, 2026, handing over a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher and heavy ammunition to authorities.
The surrenderer, identified by the alias “Dats,” turned himself in during a joint police operation at the Cotabato Police Provincial Office compound in Kidapawan City.
Following his surrender, he was taken into custody by the PNP Intelligence Group for formal documentation and tactical debriefing.
Along with the yield, authorities secured an RPG launcher and an RPG anti-tank cartridge, which were handed over to designated police personnel for safe disposition and technical evaluation.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., highlighted the importance of peaceful surrenders alongside active intelligence operations in reducing armed threats across local communities.
Nartatez affirmed that the PNP remains focused on protecting the public and maintaining regional stability through intelligence-led operations.
The joint effort involved personnel from the PNP Intelligence Group, Police Regional Office 12, Cotabato Police Provincial Office, and regional intelligence units.
The operation aligns with the PNP’s Focused Agenda—specifically its Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO)—and supports the national mandate for improved community safety and peaceful security management.
