A response to an indiscriminate firing complaint led to a major drug and illegal arms bust in Caloocan City on August 26, 2026, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of ₱2.72 million worth of suspected shabu.
Personnel from Sub-Station 6 of the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS), supervised by Chief of Police PCol. Joey T. Goforth, responded to reports of gunfire along Del Rey in Barangay 163 around 7:20 AM.
Upon arrival, officers encountered two male suspects, aged 51 and 55, both allegedly carrying firearms. The duo attempted to flee in a vehicle but were quickly intercepted and apprehended by responding units.
A search yielded a caliber .45 pistol, an empty cartridge, and four live rounds from the 55-year-old suspect. The 51-year-old was found carrying a caliber .9mm pistol loaded with five live rounds. Neither suspect could produce valid licenses or permits for the weapons.
During the arrest, a search incidental to the apprehension of the 51-year-old suspect uncovered four knot-tied plastic sachets containing roughly 400 grams of a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, valued at approximately ₱2.72 million.
Amid the operation, a 41-year-old woman allegedly intervened and attempted to block officers from taking the suspects into custody. She was promptly arrested for obstruction of justice.
All seized evidence was inventoried on-site in the presence of required witnesses. The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and chose to exercise their right to remain silent.
Criminal complaints are being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Caloocan City. The 51-year-old suspect faces charges under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
The 55-year-old suspect faces charges under RA 10591 and RA 11926 (Punishing Illegal Possession of Firearms), while the female suspect faces charges under Presidential Decree 1829 for obstruction of justice.
