AMID ongoing relief and rescue operations for communities affected by the southwest monsoon (Habagat), personnel from the Meycauayan City Police Station in Bulacan played a crucial role in ensuring the safe delivery of a baby during severe localized flooding early Sunday morning.
Police officers were conducting flood monitoring and managing traffic near Barangay Banga when they encountered a woman in labor.
With floodwaters making public transportation unavailable, the officers quickly used their patrol vehicle to transport the expectant mother and her spouse to the nearest hospital.
During the journey, the woman went into labor, prompting the police team to provide immediate assistance inside the patrol car.
The officers guided and supported the mother through the delivery, successfully helping her give birth before arriving at the hospital. Both mother and newborn are reported to be in stable and safe condition.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) showed that its role extends beyond crime prevention by providing life-saving assistance and continuous emergency support to communities during disasters.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. praised the officers for their quick thinking and dedication under challenging conditions.
“The work of the police does not end with maintaining peace and order. In the midst of floods and storms, our primary duty is to save lives. I am proud of our Meycauayan officers for showing true initiative—this is the kind of service the public expects from us,” General Nartatez said.
The PNP continues to deploy personnel across affected areas to support local government units in disaster response, safety monitoring, and community assistance.
