POLICE Regional Office 1 (PRO1) is ushering in a new chapter of leadership while maintaining a steadfast focus on press freedom and public safety across the Ilocos Region.
In a formal transition, PRO1 expressed its deep appreciation to outgoing Regional Director PBGen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. as he concludes his successful tour of duty.
Under his leadership, the regional force remained steadfast in maintaining peace, order, and public safety while serving local communities with integrity and compassion.
Badua is set to assume a new role as the Officer-in-Charge of the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR), leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service that will continue to inspire the men and women of PRO1.
Taking over the helm of the regional police force is incoming Regional Director PBGen. Crisaleo Roleda Tolentino.
The personnel of PRO1 warmly welcomed Tolentino, expressing full confidence and readiness to align with his vision for a stronger, more responsive, and community-oriented police force.
The organization reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and public safety under his command.
Alongside the leadership transition, PRO1 demonstrated its proactive approach to regional safety by hosting a case conference on media security in coordination with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) on August 27, 2026.
Held at the PRO1 Conference Room in Camp BGen Oscar M. Florendo, San Fernando City, La Union, the conference was led by PTFOMS Executive Director Usec. Jose A. Torres Jr.
The meeting focused on discussing critical operational updates, legal measures, and action plans regarding media-related killings monitored within Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Pangasinan.
Through an open forum, officials addressed pressing issues and streamlined information-sharing mechanisms to ensure swift action on media security concerns.
The collaborative effort highlights PRO1’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding journalists and enforcing peace throughout the Ilocos Region.
