THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) removed two armed individuals from the streets following an anti-criminality operation in Barangay Balingasa on October 21, 2026.
The swift apprehension also uncovered extensive criminal backgrounds linked to the suspects.
Acting District Director Police Brigadier General Christopher Olazo reported that the incident occurred at around 9:40 PM along A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Patrolling officers from the La Loma Police Station (PS 1), supervised by Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Luis Aguirre, encountered the two men reportedly handling improvised shotguns locally known as sumpak.
Authorities swiftly secured the area and arrested the suspects, identified as aliases “Josh,” 28, and “Jero,” 31, both residents of neighboring Barangay Unang Sigaw.
Operatives recovered two improvised firearms from their possession, each loaded with a live 12-gauge round of ammunition.
A subsequent background check revealed extensive criminal histories for both individuals.
Alias “Josh” logged eight previous case entries involving robbery, carnapping violations under Republic Act No. 10883, drug offenses under RA 9165, theft, and PD 1602 violations.
Meanwhile, alias “Jero” recorded nine prior case entries for similar offenses, including robbery, theft, and drug charges.
The suspects are facing formal charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Commending the operating team, PBGEN Olazo emphasized the district’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
“Every illegal firearm taken off our streets is a step toward a safer community,” Olazo stated, vowing that the QCPD will maintain aggressive anti-criminality patrols and heightened police visibility across Quezon City.
