HIGHLIGHTING the effectiveness of cross-border law enforcement, a 38-year-old man was apprehended in Pasay City during a hot pursuit operation following the theft of valuable work equipment from an unlocked vehicle in Makati City.
The suspect, identified as alias “Sonny,” was tracked down at approximately 5:30 AM on October 21, 2026, along M. de Jesus Street in Barangay 115, Pasay City, by operatives from the Makati City Police Station.
The incident began around 2:45 AM on October 20, when a 45-year-old victim temporarily left his black Ford Ranger unlocked and unattended in front of his residence in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City, while stepping inside to retrieve personal items.
When he returned, he discovered that a bag containing a Lenovo laptop, power and network adapters, a headset, a company ID, and a dry seal—collectively valued at approximately ₱90,000—had been stolen.
Upon receiving the formal complaint later that morning, Makati police investigators coordinated with the Barangay Pio del Pilar Hall to review closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
The recordings captured a male suspect wearing a yellow shirt, white shorts, a towel draped over his head, and noticeable leg tattoos rifling through the vehicle and making off with the valuables.
Leveraging inter-agency ties under the region’s Borderless Policing framework, Makati operatives traced a lead to Pasay City and visited the suspect’s residence, where they spoke with his mother.
Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the mother positively identified the man as her son and confirmed he had confessed to the crime.
Early the following morning, the mother alerted authorities that her son had returned home.
Responding swiftly, police launched a hot pursuit operation and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The apprehended individual was transported to the Makati City Police Station for booking, documentation, and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Southern Police District (SPD) Director Police Brigadier General Rodel A. Pastor lauded the seamless inter-city cooperation that led to the quick resolution of the case.
“This arrest highlights the importance of our Borderless Policing System, where coordination and information-sharing across city boundaries help ensure that suspects are promptly tracked and brought before the proper authorities,” PBGen. Pastor stated.
