Initial investigations revealed that the victim lived alone while looking after the property.

Prior to the murder, the two had engaged in several heated altercations.

Investigators noted that disputes sparked after the suspect grew irritated when the victim washed his feet at a community water well, and later when the victim caught the suspect picking rambutan fruits from the managed property.

During these arguments, the suspect allegedly issued death threats against the elderly caretaker, warning him to stay away.

A crucial break in the case came when a local witness went to the Barangay Hall of Cupang on October 18 to log an incident report.
