THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) lauded local police forces following the swift arrest of a theft suspect and the recovery of high-end photography and audiovisual equipment valued at approximately ₱1.9 million.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano commended the Eastern Police District (EPD) and the Mandaluyong City Police Station for the successful operation, which underscores the region’s intensified anti-criminality drive.
The case came to light around 12:00 noon on October 8, 2026, when a 51-year-old photographer discovered that his home studio in Barangay Bagong Silang had been burglarized.
Investigators reported that the suspect gained entry through an open window in the storage room before fleeing with extensive professional gear.
Through coordinated intelligence-driven manhunt operations, personnel from the Mandaluyong CPS Intelligence Unit, the Warrant and Follow-Up Section, Police Sub-Station 7, and the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) quickly identified and apprehended the suspect, a local construction worker residing in Mandaluyong City.
Authorities successfully recovered the bulk of the stolen equipment during the operation, though inspection revealed that some items sustained damage and the digital camera was incomplete.
Following the breakthrough, PBGen. Abrahano directed all regional police districts and unit commanders to maintain aggressive, intelligence-led follow-up investigations to ensure lawbreakers are swiftly brought to justice.
“We will continue to strengthen our investigative capabilities, pursue those who violate the law, and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken in accordance with established procedures,” PBGen. Abrahano stated.
The NCRPO chief also appealed for continued public vigilance and cooperation, emphasizing that strong police-community partnerships are vital for deterring property crimes and safeguarding neighborhoods across Metro Manila.
