THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has ramped up its internal cleansing campaign, aligning with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez to swiftly resolve pending matters and achieve zero backlog in administrative cases.

Since NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano took the helm on August 23, 2026, a total of 70 police personnel faced disciplinary actions between August and October 2026.

Of this total, 13 officers were dismissed from the service for grave offenses including Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL), estafa, and violations of Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) and R.A. No. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act).

Meanwhile, 57 personnel received suspensions for infractions such as unlawful arrest, firearms discharge, dishonesty, and negligence.

PBGen. Abrahano emphasized that the purge is not solely punitive, but serves to ensure every officer upholds public trust and the integrity of the uniform.

“We cannot demand discipline from the public if we cannot enforce discipline within our own ranks. Every complaint must be acted upon, every case must be resolved on the basis of evidence and due process, and every erring personnel must be held accountable,” Abrahano stated.

Unit commanders have been ordered to take proactive roles in addressing misconduct and preventing indefinite case backlogs.

While pushing for swift accountability, the NCRPO assured that due process and respondents’ rights will be strictly protected.

Complementing the broader “Prepare. Prevent. Respond.” framework, the disciplinary drive aims to build a credible, highly professionalized police force across Metro Manila.

Abrahano warned that enforcement will remain impartial, stressing that law enforcers who break the law will face strict administrative sanctions without exception.
