POLICE officers seized an illegal handgun and over ₱340,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs following a targeted search warrant operation in Makati City on Wednesday afternoon.
Operatives from the Makati City Police Station served the warrant at a residential location in Barangay Poblacion (Viejo) at around 2:30 PM on September 30, arresting a 44-year-old male suspect at the scene.
During the search, officers recovered a .45-caliber pistol loaded with five live rounds of ammunition alongside a sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
Subsequent forensic examination confirmed the illegal drugs weighed approximately 50.5 grams, carrying an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱343,400.
Both the firearm and narcotics were inventoried on site and turned over for forensic and ballistic evaluation.
The suspect remains in custody at the Makati City Police Station. Authorities are finalizing charges for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), which will be filed before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Officer-in-Charge PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano commended the operating unit for the seizure, emphasizing that dismantling local drug and illegal firearm networks remains a primary objective.
“Illegal firearms and dangerous drugs are a lethal combination that fuels criminality and threatens the peace of our neighborhoods,” Abrahano said, reiterating the police force’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and encouraging the public to report illicit activities in their communities.
