PROVING that police service extends far beyond law enforcement, personnel from Marikina Police Sub-Station 7 (PSS-7) turned a routine community encounter into a lasting bond by reaching out to two young girls on October 2, 2026.
The heartwarming initiative stemmed from a previous meeting near the Fixed Visibility Post along Tanguile Street in Barangay Fortune.
Instead of letting the encounter pass, the officers remembered the children’s circumstances and returned to offer practical help and encouragement.
Led by PCpl Gilbert Rolein Ramos and Jaonelle Manuel, under the supervision of PSS-7 Commander PMaj Imee G. Belarmink and Marikina City Police Chief PCol Jenny DC Tecson, the team provided the girls with used clothes, sandals, seven notebooks, and Barbie dolls.
While modest in scale, the gifts carried profound practical and emotional value.
The notebooks are designed to support the children’s studies, while the clothing and footwear offer everyday comfort.
Meanwhile, the dolls brought the simple, invaluable joy of play and laughter to the young girls.
Beyond material assistance, the continuing gesture delivered a powerful message at the heart of community-oriented policing: that vulnerable members of society are seen, remembered, and cared for.
The officers demonstrated that true public service does not require grand resources, but rather a willingness to notice others, empathize, and build trust through consistent presence.
This act of kindness highlights the human side of law enforcement, reminding the public that behind every uniform are officers dedicated to nurturing hope and protecting dignity.
Through such efforts, PSS-7 embodies the true spirit of the EPD Blue Exemplar, showing that policing with a heart strengthens the vital bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
